Assemblymember Tasha Boerner is hosting a free webinar for public awareness and has invited health and prevention experts to discuss the risk factors associated with exposure to toxic plastic in personal care and cleaning products. Microplastics have been linked to numerous health concerns, including cancer, dementia, infertility, and hormone disruption.

Catastrophic Insurance Webinar

In light of the recent devastating wildfires affecting our neighbors in Los Angeles, I want to make sure our community is aware of state resources available to you during times of natural disaster.  

Join me and the California Department of Insurance (CDI) on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 5:00 - 6:00 PM, for a webinar focused on catastrophic insurance. This webinar aims to provide insights and resources to help you navigate the challenges posed by such disasters. CDI will also discuss their Sustainable Insurance Strategy and outline the resources available to you in the event of a catastrophe.

Blue Carbon Nature Walk

California has lost over 90% of its wetlands, but projects that naturally sequester carbon – also known as blue carbon projects – are one way we can fight the climate crisis in our backyard.

Please join me and The Nature Conservancy for a Blue Carbon Nature Walk at the San Elijo Lagoon, and see how these projects can help coastal communities reduce emissions.

We will provide you with information on blue carbon and its benefits, and I will update you on my Assembly Bill 1992 on blue carbon projects.

This walk is ADA-compliant, and everyone is welcome, including your pets, but they must be on leash. Please be sure to wear sunscreen, wear comfortable shoes, and bring water.

Senior Scam Stopper Seminar

You are invited to attend our Senior Scam Stoppers Seminar, where we will provide vital information and resources to help prevent seniors and family members from becoming victims of fraud. Attendees can get answers to their questions and obtain assistance if they have been scammed, and can discuss state legislation relating to scams concerning home improvement, auto repair, insurance, telemarketing, real estate, and more.

In addition to this information, attendees will enjoy light refreshments, and the first 30 attendees will receive free giveaway bags. After the seminar, the San Diego Humane Society will also be bringing animals for de-stressing.

With so many high schools seniors sending in their college applications this time of year, many families are searching for advice on how they're going to pay for their child's education once the acceptance letters arrive.

On Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., I will be hosting a Tele-Town Hall with expert speakers from the California Student Opportunity & Access Program (Cal-SOAP). Join us to get answers from the experts to help you and your incoming college student make a game plan to take advantage of all of the various financial resources available. We will delve into grant opportunities, scholarships, the FAFSA application, how to cost-compare different college options, and more.

On Thursday, September 30, from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., I will be hosting a Tele-Town Hall discussion on aging and how to plan for it with Carlsbad-based nonprofit Senior Life Source. We will delve into some of the major areas of concern, from finding the right in-home care providers or senior living communities, to financial planning and estate management. A panel of experts in aging and senior care will guide us through common questions many folks have when it comes to preparing for this stage of life.
