For Californians age 65 and older, it can be difficult to navigate all the resources available in your city, county, or state. Please refer below for some resources and services designed specifically for California’s senior population. (updated Nov. 2023)

2-1-1 Services

211 San Diego is a local nonprofit organization whose entire job is to connect San Diegans to valuable community, health, and disaster resources. They are available by phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and they maintain an expansive and updated database of available services. You can click here to visit their website, or dial 2-1-1 to connect with a real person on their resource hotline.

COUNTY SERVICES

County Aging & Independence Services

The County of San Diego’s Aging & Independence Services are a one-stop shop for crucial County-level resources for older adults, people with disabilities, and their family members and caretakers. You can click here to browse their programs and services on the County’s website, or call their call center at 800-339-4661.

Senior Nutrition Centers

The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency maintains a list of community organizations serving nutritious meals available to seniors. These services are available for a suggested donation, but no senior age 60+ will be turned away if they are unable to donate. For a list of county-wide senior dining sites, click here.

Jewish Family Service Meal Delivery

The Loonin Family Kitchen can have a Meals on Wheels or Foodmobile driver deliver directly to your door. This service is also available for adults under 60 years of age with a disability that prevents them from being able to leave the home. CITY OF CARLSBAD SERVICES

Carlsbad Senior Center

The Carlsbad Senior Center is located at 799 Pine Avenue, Carlsbad, CA 92008, and you can reach them on the phone at 442-339-2650. You can browse the City of Carlsbad’s Adults 50+ webpage by clicking here.

Senior Meal Program at the Carlsbad Senior Center

The Carlsbad Senior Center serves weekday lunches in their dining room from noon to 1pm for adults 60+ with reservations. If you click here, you can view the monthly menus, see home delivery options, and make reservations for meals no later than noon the business day before you plan on attending.

CITY OF ENCINITAS SERVICES

Encinitas Senior Center

Oakcrest Café Lunch Program for Adults 60+

The Oakcrest Café at the Encinitas Community and Senior Center serves nutritious and satisfying lunches on weekdays at 11:40am. For questions about the program or to make reservations for lunches, please call 760-943-2258

Solana Beach Community Connections is a nonprofit organization run entirely by volunteers that works to provide information, services, and resources to seniors in Solana Beach and help them to age comfortably and independently in their homes. Del Mar Community Connections (DMCC)

The City of Del Mar contracts with Del Mar Community Connections to provide services to their senior population. CITY OF SAN DIEGO SERVICES

AgeWell Services

AgeWell San Diego is a County-led initiative to make our communities more accessible places to live for people of all ages. The City of San Diego has their own AgeWell programs, from free weekday lunches to technology training to senior recreational activities. Therapeutic Recreation Services

CITY OF CORONADO SERVICES

John D. Spreckels Center and Bowling Green

The John D. Spreckels Center, located near the Coronado Public Library, serves Coronado’s 50+ community with fitness programs, volunteer opportunities, and educational and art classes. For more information about their programming options, click here or call 619-522-7343.
