This week, I’m on a special research tour in Canada to examine the best practices for recycling, and in turn, further develop our economy.

We’ve all heard of the need to reduce, reuse, and recycle, but actually managing all that material takes high-tech facilities and innovation.

I’m excited to bring back new ideas and confront the challenge of reducing waste at the source here in California.

National Intern Day

July 27^th was National Intern Day! #AD77 is lucky to have had so many driven and engaged interns over the years who help with everything from providing resources to residents, attending events, and tracking important issues across our District. I'm inspired by these individuals who are driven to take action to support their communities and be involved in local government.

IZOLA Bakery

This past Friday, I visited IZOLA Bakery in Downtown San Diego and spoke with their team about their operations and the challenges they have faced trying to grow the business. IZOLA started as a passion project for co-founders Jeffrey Brown and Jenny Chen when, like so many other Americans, they began baking to cope with lockdown in 2020. Shortly afterward, in 2022, they were named the No. 1 bakery on Yelp! #AD77 has so many incredible small businesses, and it is an honor to be able to stand with local business owners working hard to transition to that next level.

Southern California Water Coalition

I also spoke to the Southern CA Water Coalition Board of Directors on Friday about my work in the Assembly, as well as sharing my thoughts on water, energy, and our natural resources. We had a productive discussion about the Water Coalition's role in helping to educate their elected representatives on key issues faced by Water Authorities and important climate resiliency bond funding options that could be coming to voters in the future. I'm always grateful to have such engaged stakeholder groups in #AD77

Pure Health Ribbon Cutting

#TeamTasha attended the Pure Health Encinitas Ribbon Cutting and presented their founder, Dr. Corey King, with a certificate acknowledging their contributions to the community. Pure Health is a naturopathic medical clinic in Encinitas that focusses on optimizing patients' health, performance, and wellbeing with modern Medicine.

Assembly District 77: Internship Program

My office is now accepting applications for our Internship Program, located at my District Office in Carlsbad. The internship is open to all individuals with an interest in learning more about state government and public service while building professional skills.

Interns will work as unpaid volunteers with flexible part-time hours. This role requires a three-month commitment, with flexible part-time hours and flexible start/end dates.

Need help on your water bills? The San Diego County Water Authority is partnering with the Metropolitan Area Advisory Committee of San Diego County and Campesinos Unidos, Inc. to help spread awareness of the federal Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program!
