From Assemblywoman Tasha Boerner

__SALUTATION__

Assemblymember Tasha Boerner This week, the State Legislature recognized Nonprofits at the Capitol for the incredible work they do in our communities.

This year, I honored The League of Amazing Programmers that teaches kids and teens how to code. Their mission to help more youth, including girls and underserved students, navigate the digital age is transforming lives throughout San Diego.

I am so grateful to the nonprofits in #AD77 who advocate for change on critical issues. Their contributions are driven by the desire to make our community and State a better place.

Cheers,

Preserving Cultural Districts

Preserving Cultural Districts

Artists are the lifeblood of our communities and help provide and preserve their cultural footprint. That's why I was excited to see my AB 812 pass with unanimous, bipartisan support in Senate Housing Committee this week!

This bill allows local governments the flexibility to set aside up to 10 percent of housing within designated cultural districts for artists, and it is now one step closer to the Governor’s desk! #CALeg

LGBTQIA+ Pride Month

LGBTQIA+ Pride Month

Happy Pride #AD77 ! Oceanside hosted its annual Pride by the Beach, the official kickoff to Pride Month here in North County. The work of the North County LGBTQ Resource Center has inspired me over my time in the Assembly, and it even helped me to write my bill AB 589, which would expand upon the Unicorn Homes program run by the Center that aims to provide safe, supportive care and transitional housing to LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness.

I am honored to be running this legislation and to live in a place with leaders like Fernándo Lopez, director of San Diego Pride, and Max Disposti, Executive Director of the North County LGBTQ Resource Center. Thank you for all that you do!

Live Your Dream Community Partner Awards

Live Your Dream Community Partner Awards

#TeamTasha attended the Soroptomist International Oceanside-Carlsbad annual “Live Your Dream Community Partner” Awards. The deserving recipients from local organizations were awarded nearly $18,000 in checks and each spoke with enormous gratitude to Soroptomist for their contribution to changing lives.

The stories of courageous victims of domestic violence and their path to conquering their challenges were uplifting and motivating. It brings me great joy to see our local women doing such awesome things in our communities.
