Máté's Last Time at the Capitol
Having Máté & Maya at the Capitol this week was such a gift. I am trying to spend as much time with my kids before summer is over. Maya is officially entering high school, and Máté is moving to Germany in a week. They grow up so fast! I already miss them so much!
Legislative Update
I'm proud to share that several of my bills are moving forward in the Senate! Stay tuned — there's more to come!
AB 399 — Blue Carbon Projects in Coastal Developments: This bill would authorize the California Coastal Commission to add blue carbon projects to the list of potential mitigation measures when approving coastal development permits. Blue carbon projects capture carbon emissions and reduce pollution.
AB 87 — Density Bonus Law: This bill would ensure that proposed developments utilizing the Density Bonus Law incorporate affordable residential housing rather than hotels.
AB 86 — Health Education Instructional Materials: This bill would standardize health education for grades K-8 by requiring the State Board of Education to adopt instructional materials for health education.

SDUSD Superintendent Dr. Fabiola Bagula
It was a pleasure to welcome San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) Superintendent Dr. Fabi Bagula to my district office!
Dr. Bagula has dedicated years of service to SDUSD - starting as a teacher and rising through the ranks as a teacher coach, principal, assistant superintendent, senior director of equity, and deputy superintendent. Now, as Superintendent, she is leading bold, transformative initiatives to improve outcomes for students and educators across our TK–12 public schools.
Her deep commitment to equity, excellence, and student success is exactly what our schools need. SDUSD is fortunate to have her at the helm!

American Red Cross Lifesaving Awards
The American Red Cross Training Services program teaches lifesaving skills to about nine million people a year.
Team Tasha had the privilege of attending the American Red Cross Lifesaving Awards, a ceremony that recognizes people for saving lives.
Heather Sullivan and Brendan Bligh received the American Red Cross Lifesaving Award for their quick thinking and bravery that saved Heather's husband's life earlier this year. When Heather's husband, Kevin, suffered a seizure behind the wheel, she and Brendan, an off-duty law enforcement officer, worked together to safely stop the car, care for Kevin, and protect their children until emergency responders arrived.
Thanks to their courage, composure, and the lifesaving skills taught by the American Red Cross, a tragedy was prevented.
Heather and Brendan are a powerful reminder of why CPR and first aid training matter - and how everyday people can do extraordinary things.

There are two free mental health apps available to all children, youth, young adults, and families in California. BrightLife Kids and Soluna are two free apps to help families raise happy, healthy young minds. BrightLife Kids is for families whose children are 0-12 years old, and Soluna is for teens and young adults between ages 13-25.

Rebates Available for Water-Saving Upgrades
