This week, my colleagues and I passed a budget we can be proud of.
We pushed back on cuts to safety net programs, got more funding to address the state's homelessness crisis, and protected 0-5-year-olds from being procedurally disenrolled from Medi-Cal because of bureaucratic red tape. We also secured funding to help seniors and disabled Californians to pay their property taxes through the Property Tax Postponement program. We are maximizing federal dollars for broadband, thus saving the state millions for vital state programs.
Our state may be navigating a difficult budget year, and we will ensure that we continue to protect our most vulnerable communities.
Cheers,
Assemblymember Tasha Boerner
Assemblymember, 77th District

Passing the State Budget
The Assembly and Senate was proud to vote on the budget that, while making significant cuts, is doing its best to protect Californians.
This means funding is available for kids and ensuring they have health coverage. It means there is funding for affordable housing and assistance for people experiencing homelessness. It means we are doing our best to ensure that the money we do have has the most return on investment for our most vulnerable communities.

La Jolla Playhouse Recognized in the District as Nonprofit of the Year
Team Tasha was happy to stop by La Jolla Playhouse and officially recognize them in our district as the 2024 Nonprofit of the Year!
Each year, California Assemblymembers and State Senators select nonprofits from their district to be recognized for their work to provide services to those in need, promote social change, and improve the quality of life in their communities. La Jolla Playhouse (The Playhouse) was founded in 1947 by Hollywood Actors Gregory Peck, Dorothy McGuire, and Mel Ferrer as a summer stock retreat. They have produced over 120 world premieres and sent 36 productions to Broadway. These plays include The Who's Tommy, Jersey Boys, Memphis, Come From Away, Lempicka, and The Outsiders. The Playhouse has earned 38 Tony Awards and in 1993 received a Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre.

Team Tasha was at the League of Wives Memorial Project's Memorial Dedication at Star Park in Coronado. This memorial is the first public monument in the country to honor military spouses, and we couldn't be prouder to have it here in AD 77!
