Dr. Preeti Mehta
Dr. Preeti Mehta grew up in Mumbai, India, before moving to Boston to complete her internal medicine residency training at Tufts. She later worked and taught at Harvard before moving to San Diego.
She is a Hospitalist and Chair of Medicine at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. She has been voted Top Doc of San Diego by her peers for several years. Clinical medicine is her passion, and she is devoted to her patients. She is also the president-elect of the San Diego County Medical Society. She is very vocal in supporting the medical community in caring for their patients. She always supports her peers and encourages them with opportunities for personal and professional growth whenever possible. She is also active in the Physician Health and Wellbeing Committee at Scripps and the Medical Society.
She is also the incoming President of the San Diego Del Norte chapter of the National Charity League, a mother-daughter volunteer organization. As a way of giving back to the community, she volunteers with several local charities with her teenage daughters, Maya and Nila.
Bills Headed to the Senate
These bills made it out of the Assembly and are headed to the Senate:
AB 1992 - Blue Carbon Projects in Coastal Developments: This bill would authorize the California Coastal Commission to add blue carbon demonstration projects to the suite of factors it considers for potential mitigation when approving coastal development permits.
AB 2234 - E-Bike Safety Training: The bill would authorize the County of San Diego to establish a pilot program banning e-bikes for anyone under the age of 12.
AB 2259 - Bike Smart Handbook: The bill would direct the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) to develop and post online, on or before September 1, 2025, the Bike Smart Handbook, a bicyclist and e-bike safety handbook based on evidence-based practices and emerging trends.
AB 2564 - Fairness for Senior and Disabled Homeowners Act: The bill would secure a permanent funding source to help seniors and individuals with a disability pay property taxes through the Property Tax Postponement (PTP) program.
AB 2666 - Utility Rate Adjustment: The bill would require the California Public Utilities Commission to determine if rates were unreasonably set and adjust accordingly.
AB 2715 - Brown Act Cybersecurity: The bill would allow local governments to discuss threats to cybersecurity in a closed session.
AB 2756 - Preventative Postpartum Pelvic Floor Treatment: The bill would authorize a three-year pilot program in the county of San Diego for preventative pelvic floor and core conditioning group exercises within the six to twelve-week postpartum window to help birthing people rebuild their pelvic floor after pregnancy.
House Resolution 100: Bike to School Day
This week, I presented House Resolution 100 on Bike to School Day. May is Bike Month, and it is important to recognize the benefits biking offers. It is great for the environment and helps improve our students' mental and physical health.

2024 San Diego Equality Awards
On Friday evening, I attended the 2024 San Diego #EqualityAwards. This year marks Equality California's (EQCA) 25th anniversary, and I recognized their Executive Director, Tony Hoang, for the incredible work EQCA has done in advocating for LGBTQ+ civil rights. It was fantastic celebrating this milestone with such a great community, including other Assemblymembers and city leaders from across San Diego.

Assembly District 77: Fall 2024 Internship Program
My office is accepting applications for our Fall 2024 Internship Program, located at my District Office in Solana Beach. The internship is open to all individuals with an interest in learning more about state government and public service while building professional skills.
Interns will work as unpaid volunteers with flexible part-time hours. This role requires a three-month commitment, with flexible part-time hours and flexible start/end dates.

California State Parks Week is June 12-16! California State Parks will be hosting daily events at all state parks so you and your family can enjoy your time outdoors.
Mental Health Apps for Families
There are two free mental health apps available to all children, youth, young adults, and families in California. BrightLife Kids and Soluna are two free apps to help families raise happy, healthy young minds. BrightLife Kids is for families whose children are 0-12 years old, and Soluna is for teens and young adults between ages 13-25.
