Friday was the last day for my colleagues and me to introduce bills for this legislative session. My team and I have been dedicated to crafting a thoughtful legislative package that truly reflects the needs of our communities and state.
The legislation I introduced fall within these three buckets: sustainability, opportunity, and equality. I cannot wait to share the proposals I am working on with you in the coming weeks.

ICYMI - I introduced AB 823, a bill banning plastic microbeads in our cleaning products, leave-on cosmetics, and paints. The European Union has taken bold action to ban these toxic microbeads. It is time for California to lead the way here in the U.S.
UC San Diego's Local Leaders Reception
UC San Diego (UCSD) hosted the biannual Elected Officials Reception, bringing together leaders from all levels of government, community members, and campus leadership for an evening of connection and collaboration. This gathering was a testament to the university's dedication to fostering strong partnerships that support its students and their future success. Our pride comes from the 43,000 students who are currently attending UCSD and who will make a positive impact on this world.
2025 Women of Impact Event Ceremony
Join me on Saturday, March 8, from 1-2 pm at Del Mar City Hall to honor amazing women in our community. These women have exemplified leadership in AD 77 & have been nominated by our community members.
Ahead of the event, attendees will be able to network with others while enjoying a light lunch. This will also be an opportunity to hear what I am working on in Sacramento.

Assembly District 77: Spring Internship Program
My office is accepting applications for our Spring Internship Program, located at my District Office in Solana Beach. The internship is open to all individuals with an interest in learning more about state government and public service while building professional skills.
Interns will work as unpaid volunteers with flexible part-time hours. This role requires a three-month commitment, with flexible part-time hours and flexible start/end dates.

Free Tax Filing for Eligible Families
On Tuesday, March 18th, from 11 am-5 pm, we will have two volunteers to assist you with tax assistance. It is simple: see if you are eligible, book your appointment here, and be sure to have all the documents below (What You'll Need). Each appointment will last one hour. These volunteers can only assist you if you book an appointment. If you cannot make it to this event, please feel free to check out any local tax filing events.
San Diego Festival for Science & Engineering
The 17th annual San Diego Festival for Science & Engineering is back at Petco Park for children interested in exploring the subject. This event will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, with over 130 local businesses, corporations, and community organizations. Children will experience interactive and hands-on exhibits and activities.

We have witnessed the devastation affecting our fellow Californians in Los Angeles. As outreach efforts from people across our state are underway, this serves as a sobering reminder that emergencies can strike at any time. Please be prepared, sign up for alerts, and check on your neighbors. If you are able, consider extending a helping hand to those affected by the wildfires in LA.

The countdown to tax season has officially started! Remember to start gathering your documents and see if you qualify for tax credit programs like the California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) or Young Child Tax Credit.
Cash for College
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) are now open for the 2025-2026 Academic Year. If you or someone you know needs help completing these applications, there are several webinars available to assist you through this process. The financial aid deadline has been extended to April 2.
CalKids - Children's College Savings Program
It is back-to-school season, and it is important to think about how you are saving for your child's future! CalKIDS was created to provide Californian children greater access to higher education institutions. Newborns and eligible low-income public school students may receive up to $1,500 in a CalKIDS account. This can help jumpstart your child's savings for college and career training!
REAL ID Deadline: May 7, 2025
By May 7, 2025, you will need a REAL ID to board domestic flights and access federal facilities. To apply, gather one proof of identity and two proofs of California Residency, complete the application at California Department of Motor Vehicles, and visit a DMV office. Be REAL ID ready!

There are two free mental health apps available to all children, youth, young adults, and families in California. BrightLife Kids and Soluna are two free apps to help families raise happy, healthy young minds. BrightLife Kids is for families whose children are 0-12 years old, and Soluna is for teens and young adults between ages 13-25.
