__SALUTATION__

Assemblymember Tasha BoernerSince my election to the Assembly in 2018, I have advocated for solutions that are focused and have proven to be successful at keeping people housed and off of our streets.

My AB 2564 does just that by protecting senior citizens and disabled citizens from being priced out of their homes due to high property taxes through a program called the Senior Citizens and Disabled Citizens Property Tax Postponement Fund.

I am grateful to the State Controller's Office for working with me on this bill, and will continue to provide updates on the progress of this bill as it moves through the legislative process.

Cheers,

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Kamau Kenyatta

Black History Month - Kamau Kenyatta

My community spotlight this week is Kamau Kenyatta, a Grammy-award winning music producer, pianist, and saxophonist. Born in Michigan, he currently lives in #AD77 and is a professor of jazz music at UCSD. He served as the musical director of Blues Schoolhouse at the International House of Blues in San Diego, which is a music education program for middle-school children, and then joined the Music Department at the California State Summer School for the Arts, where he served as Department Co-Chair from 2010-2011. He has toured over 20 countries with artists such as The Supremes, New Kids on the Block, Oscar Brown, Jr., Silk, SWV, and the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band. In honor of this year's Black History Month theme of "African Americans and the Arts," it is my pleasure to recognize Kamau Kenyatta this week!
