The beginning of the 2025-2026 school year is just around the corner, and I want to make sure that all our students are ready! Join me, the San Diego Unified School District, the San Diego Youth Services, Cox Communications, and the San Diego Padres for my annual backpack and school supplies giveaway at Dewey Elementary School on August 6, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
This giveaway is free and open to the public, and all school-aged students are welcome. Backpacks and supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Hope to see you there!

Superintendent Karl Mueller has been with the Coronado Unified School District (CUSD) for ten years. His leadership has motivated students to seek connections beyond the classroom and challenge themselves to be better versions of themselves. It was a pleasure hosting Superintendent Mueller at my district office to learn more about how CUSD is supporting its students.

We were thrilled to see such a wonderful turnout! Attendees gained valuable insights on protecting themselves from fraud, along with essential tips for fall prevention and safe driving practices.

8/15 - Deadline to Apply to My Paid Internship Program
I am seeking two paid interns to join my district office in the fall. Each intern will earn $20 an hour for their work. Under the direction of the District Director, the interns will have an opportunity to learn about the operations of an Assembly District.
Interns will gain experience working with state agencies, interacting with the public in an official setting, attending outside meetings and events alongside staff, networking with community leaders, and more.
Candidates should have an interest in learning about the legislative process and how state governments serve constituents. Candidates must possess strong written and oral communication skills, be able to work in a fast-paced team environment, and be proficient in Microsoft Word and general office tasks.

Concerts on the Green

Summer is almost here, and SUN Bucks are here to help! Eligible families can receive $120 per child in food benefits to help cover the cost of meals while school is out. If your child received CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Medi-Cal during the school year, you'll get SUN Bucks automatically. It is back-to-school season, and it is important to think about how you are saving for your child's future! CalKIDS was created to provide Californian children greater access to higher education institutions. There are two free mental health apps available to all children, youth, young adults, and families in California. BrightLife Kids and Soluna are two free apps to help families raise happy, healthy young minds.
