On Saturday, the California State Legislature wrapped up the first year of the two-year legislative session. Long hours were put in, but I am proud to support legislation that protects families across California.
A few of my bills are on the Governor's Desk awaiting his signature. I look forward to updating you when that legislation is signed. For a rundown on the legislation I worked on this year, please feel free to visit my website.
Cheers,

Climate Action Campaign's 10th Anniversary
Congratulations to the Climate Action Campaign on reaching its 10th anniversary!
For ten years, the Climate Action Campaign has been a trusted regional leader in Southern California for engaging with state and local leaders to advance climate policy. I, along with Senator Catherine Blakespear, Senator Steve Padilla, Assemblymember David Alvarez, Assemblymember Dr. Darshana Patel, Assemblymember Dr. LaShae Sharp-Collins, and Assemblymember Chris Ward, commend the organization for its role in improving the lives of people in Southern California!
Daphnie Tseng
Cheers to our fantastic intern, Daphnie Tseng, on her last day with our office!
Daphnie has gone above and beyond her duties in her short time with our Capitol Office. She's sat in important meetings, assisted with legislation that is now at the Governor's desk, and briefed our Assemblymember on the Assembly Floor.
Daphnie is headed back to UCLA to continue her Bachelor's Degree in Biology.
Thank you for your hard work during your time here! AD 77 is proud of you!
Recognizing Lisa Montes
Each week during this Latino Heritage Month, join me in recognizing community members in AD 77 whose contributions to our region deserve to be shared and celebrated.
This week, I am proud to recognize Lisa Montes.
Lisa Montes' family settled in La Colonia in the 1920s and worked in the fields of Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, Solana Beach, and Encinitas. Her long-established roots in San Diego have motivated her to give back locally. She is the curator of the Solana Beach Heritage Museum, the founding board member of La Colonia Community Foundation, and serves on the Solana Beach Civic and Historical Society Board. She is also one of the co-founders of Somos TIAS (Take Inspired Action Siempre) to help and educate vulnerable families who are the target of ICE deportations.
Thank you for all that you do to support families in San Diego!
