Every year after the 4th of July, our local shelters see a surge in lost pets spooked by fireworks. This past weekend alone, the San Diego Humane Society took in more than 180 stray animals, and sadly, only about 25% are ever reunited with their families. For the past three years, their shelters have been at capacity.
If you or someone you know is missing a pet, please check your local shelter's website—you might find a familiar face. And if you're looking to open your heart and home, now is a great time to consider adoption.
Cheers,

Bill that Bans Plastic Microbeads Passes Senate Judiciary

AB 823 to ban toxic plastic microbeads PASSED the Senate Judiciary Committee with unanimous, bipartisan support!
If signed, AB 823 would be the first in the nation to ban plastic glitter and plastic microbeads in cleaning products.
AB 823 would ban the sale of non-rinse-off personal care products and cleaning products containing plastic microbeads used as an abrasive to clean, exfoliate, or polish by January 1, 2029. This bill would also ban the sale of personal care products containing plastic glitter by January 1, 2030.
