Did you know that in California, one in five women and one in seven men have experienced physical violence from their partner? It's so important to raise awareness for domestic violence this October because everyone deserves a healthy relationship.
Just a friendly reminder, there are resources available to you. If you or a loved one needs help, don't hesitate to reach out to the 24/7 National Violence Hotline at 1 (800) 799-SAFE (7233). You're not alone, and support is just a phone call away!
Cheers,
Assemblymember Tasha Boerner

Tour: Crest Beverage Distribution Facility Tour
In 2009, Crest Beverage joined the Reyes Beverage Group. It is the largest craft beer market in the country, selling over 16 million cases to nearly five thousand customers annually in California, and providing hundreds of jobs to people in San Diego. It was great learning about their operations and meeting Tom Reyes, President of Reyes Beverage Group West, and Laura Diaz Dunbar, Vice President of Government Relations and Public Affairs.

Scripps Microbiome Researcher Winner of The Nierenberg Prize
The Nierenberg Prize was established as a gift from the Nierenberg family to honor the memory of William A. Nierenberg, a renowned national science leader and former Scripps Oceanography Director. This prestigious prize includes a generous $25,000 award and bronze medal, recognizing individuals who have made exceptional contributions to science in the service of the public good.
We were thrilled to join UC San Diego in celebrating Jeffrey I. Gordon is referred to as the "father of microbiome research" and is currently delving into the impacts of childhood undernutrition on the normal development of the gut microbiome. Thank you for your work, Jeffrey Gordon!

Broadband Nation Expo
I had the fantastic opportunity to attend the Broadband Nation Expo, previously known as the U.S. Broadband Summit. This event successfully united industry experts and government officials dedicated to expanding broadband access nationwide. I was honored to be a panelist on a session called "Picking up the Tab-Funding Beyond BEAD," where we explored innovative government investments in middle-mile and last-mile infrastructure to bring Internet connectivity to communities. It was genuinely inspiring to engage in a discussion alongside Jason Hill, Jennifer Fritzsche, Fletcher Kittredge, David Strauss, and Rachelle Medalia. We need to work together if we want broadband access for all communities.
