WOMEN OF IMPACT HONOREES

Jennifer Phelps: Advocacy & Activism

ad77 Jennifer Phelps: Advocacy and Activism

This month, I'm celebrating the incredible women shaping our communities—and I'm thrilled to kick things off with our first honoree in Advocacy & Activism: Jennifer Phelps of Youth4Climate!

Jennifer is a powerhouse in climate advocacy and youth empowerment. As a LEED and SITES Accredited Professional, she co-founded the San Diego Sustainability Collaborative in 2016. After training with Al Gore as a Climate Reality Leader in 2018, she turned her focus to the next generation—helping launch the Youth Empowerment Summit, which became the foundation for San Diego 350's Youth4Climate Program in 2019.

Since then, Jennifer has mentored over 250 young leaders, guiding them in climate leadership, activism, and advocacy.

Jennifer's impact is undeniable—she's not just fighting for the planet, she's building the next generation of changemakers.

Join me in celebrating Jennifer Phelps!

Crystal Hazelton: Military

ad77 Crystal Hazelton: Military

My next honoree in the category of military is Crystal Hazelton of Coastal Specialty Physical Therapy, a dedicated women's health expert with 18 years of experience in orthopedics and pelvic health.

Crystal's groundbreaking work has transformed postpartum care for active-duty sailors. She developed the Pregnancy to Physical Readiness Test program at Naval Medical Center San Diego, a game-changer in helping sailors safely regain fitness postpartum. With over 300 women benefiting from this free online resource, her program directly enhances mission readiness and career advancement for service members.

But her impact doesn't stop there. Crystal is passionate about empowering women at every stage of life. She created Thrive During Menopause to support women through this transition and launched the Healthy Dance Masterclass series to guide young dancers in injury prevention and performance longevity.

Beyond her clinical work, she continues to serve active-duty service members, their spouses, veterans, and even high school students exploring careers in physical therapy.

Crystal Hazelton's dedication to women's health is changing lives, strengthening careers, and shaping the future of physical therapy. Let's celebrate her incredible contributions!
