 As an avid cyclist and mom, I am passionate about educating Californians on biking laws.
I introduced Assembly Bill (AB) 2259, the Bike Smart Handbook, with one goal in mind - to help everyone understand the rights and responsibilities of safely biking in California. This week, AB 2259 passed its first hurdle in the legislative process, receiving unanimous, bipartisan support from my colleagues in the Assembly Committee on Transportation!

Blue Carbon & Unicorn Homes
We had a busy week at the Capitol. I am excited to report that three of my bills were heard in their respective committees and will be moving forward in the legislative process.
AB 1992 will protect our blue carbon ecosystems, capturing carbon and maintaining biodiversity.
AB 2007 will provide our unhoused LGBTQ+ youth with transitional housing and resources.
AB 2259 will make bicycle laws readily available in a handbook to increase road safety.
End Child Marriage
Forty-five states have a minimum marriage age requirement, and California isn't one of them. This week, I joined Assemblymember Cottie Petrie-Norris, author of AB 2924 on ending child marriage, and Assemblymember Chris Ward to show my support.
Women of Impact

Executive Director Installation Ceremony
#TeamTasha stopped by the installation ceremony for Executive Director Renaye Murphy. The event was held at the United States Veteran Affairs Regional Office in San Diego. Congratulations, Renaye Murphy!
Intern Spotlight
Join me in welcoming one of my district interns, Patrick Mason!
Patrick has lived in San Diego his whole life. He has moved from neighborhood to neighborhood and currently resides in Carlsbad. After moving around so much, he became interested in being more connected to his communities. He chose Team Tasha to learn more about the interworking of a government office and gain authentic experience in communicating with the public. Patrick attends Carlsbad High School and wants to continue with higher education. He is working towards running for President of the United States!
Taking on Textile Waste
The Solana Center for Environmental Innovation (Solana Center), in collaboration with local student and Girl Scout, Isla Rindt, are bringing a family-friendly event to the community to bring awareness of the environmental impacts the fast fashion industry has on our earth.

Assembly District 77: Field Representative

Assembly District 77: Internship Program
My office is now accepting applications for our Internship Program, located at my District Office in Solana Beach. The internship is open to all individuals with an interest in learning more about state government and public service while building professional skills.
Interns will work as unpaid volunteers with flexible part-time hours. This role requires a three-month commitment, with flexible part-time hours and flexible start/end dates.

U.S. Small Business Administration Business Recovery Center
The U.S. Small Business Administration has opened a Business Recovery Center, located in National City, for businesses that were impacted by the storms and flooding in early January. SBA staff will be on site Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5pm to help business owners access key recovery services and low-interest loans.

California Student Debt Financial Aid
California's financial aid priority deadline for the 2024-2025 academic year is coming up. Students must submit by April 2nd. The California Student Aid Commission provides various resources and information on financial aid opportunities.
Claim Your California Earned Income Tax Credit
The California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC) offers financial support for low-income, working Californians. It has boosted the incomes of hundreds of thousands of families since it began. If you were self-employed or have an Individual Tax ID Number, you can now qualify for the CalEITC.

IRS Free File Program
The IRS is collaborating with tax preparation and filing software companies to make filing for taxes easier for you. There are two ways taxpayers can prepare and file their federal income tax online. Remember to file your taxes before the April 15th deadline.

Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program
Need help on your water bills? The San Diego County Water Authority is partnering with the Metropolitan Area Advisory Committee of San Diego County and Campesinos Unidos, Inc. to help spread awareness of the federal Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program!
The program will pay up to $2,000 in water or wastewater bills for qualified, low-income households, including renters.
