As a working mother of two, I understand how difficult it can be to find support for your family when you need it most. Fortunately, there are many city, county, and state resources available for families to ensure that everyone is fed, safe, and cared for. CalKIDS

The California Kids Investment and Development Savings Program (CalKIDS) is available to help California’s children start saving early for college. To be eligible, your child must be born in California on or after July 1, 2022 or be an eligible low-income student in California’s public school system grades 1-12. Through this program, each eligible child will receive a starting deposit into a CalKIDS account that can be used to help pay for post-high school education. Click here to visit the CalKIDS website.

The Department of Child Support Services is San Diego County’s one-stop shop for child support needs and family resources. They provide resources for justice-involved families, resources to fight food insecurity, and fun, educational programming for families. Click here to visit their website.

The Office of Child and Youth Success in the City of San Diego was created in 2022 to ensure that all young San Diegans are supported as they learn and grow. City Employee Childcare Assistance

If you are employed at the City of San Diego, there is a pilot program to help cover the cost of childcare for children age 12 and under. Through federal grant funding, the Municipal Child Care Benefit Pilot Program will be available to eligible City employees and will be awarded monthly based on need. Parenting Assistance (Your Safe Place)

Your Safe Place provides services for family and domestic violence survivors, and they also work to protect children from stressful or dangerous situations and support their development.
