Wow! It's hard to believe that I have finished the first seven months serving you in the State Assembly! We have accomplished so much together. Thank you for your calls, emails and attending our community meetings. Here is a snapshot of the past months.

Upcoming Events

Senior Scam Stoppers Workshop

In partnership with the Contractors State License Board, I am hosting a Senior Scam Stoppers Seminar on Wednesday, July 31 at the Carlsbad Senior Center from 10 - 11:45 a.m. A panel of experts from different government agencies will provide tips on how to protect yourself from various types of fraud including identity theft and telephone scams, as well as financial, insurance, and mail fraud. This event is free and open to the public. For more information please call my district office at (760) 433-7601.

Weekly Highlights in the District

  • Celebrated 4th of July with a bbq at the American Legion Post 416 in Encinitas and honored Post Commander Matt Shillinburg as Assembly District 76 Veteran of the Year for his dedication to advocating for the needs of veterans.

  • Field representative Fernando Hernandez spoke to the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Forum about current legislation and budget items which impact local veterans including the $1.5 million dollars allocated from this year’s state budget to expand MiraCosta College’s new Veterans Resource Center.
     
  • Field Representative Alex Kiwan attended the Love of Literacy event in Oceanside to meet with community members and provided information on how to access state agencies and services. 

Weekly Highlights from Sacramento

  • AB 1017, my bill to make it easier to plan for at-grade pedestrian rail crossings, passed out of the Senate Appropriations Committee on Monday. 

  • AB 931, my bill to increase women’s representation on local boards and commissions, passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee by a 6-1 vote.
