Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath

__SALUTATION__

Assemblymember Tasha Boerner HorvathPart of the role of the Legislature is to provide oversight over public agencies. One way we do this is through authorizing our State Auditor to evaluate issues and report back to the Legislature. I am honored to be a member of the Joint Legislative Audit Committee, the bipartisan, bicameral body entrusted with this important work.

We have excellent public higher education institutions here in California, and it is essential that they be fair, open, and affordable. That's why I requested two audits, one of the University of California admissions process in light of the recent scandals and one of the Cal State University fees that at some CSUs are nearly equal to that of tuition. Both audits were approved on an impressive bipartisan vote on Wednesday!

We will continue to demand the highest level of transparency and accountability from our public agencies. My colleagues and I look forward to the reports and the possible policy fixes that will make our institutions even more effective for all Californians.

Cheers,
