__SALUTATION__
This past weekend we celebrated Mother's Day to recognize the hard work of all the mothers, grandmothers, angel mothers and aunties in our lives. Thank you!
Much of my journey into the political space has to do with being a mom. As you probably know, I got my start in public service trying to get a stop sign near my kids' school -- something folks had been trying to do for over 20 years. Our team got it approved in just six months! That is the power of women -- and specifically mothers -- leading and fighting for our communities.
Every day, I am working hard in Sacramento so that our kids have a future to look forward to with the educational opportunities they deserve, the jobs they need to put food on the table and a roof over their heads, and policies that help leave our world a little better than we found it.
So, thank you to all the different kinds of moms out there and all you do to make our lives a little better!
Cheers,

Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath
Assemblymember, 76th District
P.S. Here are a few of the amazing freshmen legislators that I get to serve within the Assembly. Each is doing such an amazing job serving our community!

Any bill that could incur even a relatively modest fiscal cost to the state has to be analyzed by the Appropriations Committee. Bills with a cost over the $50,000 threshold are placed in what is called the "suspense" file to allow additional time for analysis to ensure the potential cost fits within the proposed annual state budget. This week, I had three bills in Appropriations that were on suspense. Here's what happened:
- AB 1731, my bill to appropriately regulate how long short-term vacation rental platforms may rent a unit where the primary resident is not on site in San Diego County's coastal zone, passed out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee on Thursday and heads to the Assembly floor for a vote as early as next week.
- AB 931, my bill to increase women's representation on local boards and commissions, also passed out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee on Thursday and heads to the Assembly floor for a vote as early as next week.
- AB 1426, my bill to codify the "Save Trestles" decision to protect San Onofre State Beach, will be made a "two-year bill" to allow more time for planned amendments.
