As someone who got my start as a PTA mom, I know how important it is to listen and really hear the needs of our community. I receive your emails, my team and I address your statewide issues, and we have robust discussions when we are out in the community. Weekly Highlights in the District

- Celebrated the Salk Institute of Biological Studies at Leichtag Commons in recognition of the Institute recently receiving a $35 million grant from The Audacious Project for their Harnessing Plants Initiative which optimizes plants ability to capture and store carbon as a way to fight climate change.

- Field Representative Fernando Hernandez joined the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce at the Unite North County Annual Luncheon to support Unite North County's vision of bringing together civics organizations, the faith community, local businesses and nonprofits to collaborate for the benefit of our North County communities.
- Dined out for life on Thursday evening with my family at Public Priority House. For Dine Out For Life 2019, the North County LGBTQ Resource Center partnered with multiple restaurants in North County who donated a portion of proceeds earned to support the Center's HIV/AIDS education and support services.

Weekly Highlights in Sacramento

- I was proud to support Governor Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom, along with my colleagues from the Senate and Assembly, at a press conference on Wednesday to announce a host of proposed budget initiatives to expand paid family leave and eliminate taxes on families.

- AB 1607, my bill to require cities and counties to notify new business owners of the Gender Tax Repeal Act at the time a business license is issued to reduce costly fines, passed out of the Assembly on Thursday on a 76-0 bipartisan vote.
- AB 1017, my bill to make it easier to plan for at-grade pedestrian rail crossings, also passed out of the Assembly on Thursday on a 75-0 vote!

Last week, AB 467, Sports Prize Equity "Equal Pay for Equal Play" that requires all athletic competitions on state lands to offer equal compensation prize regardless of gender, passed out of the Assembly on a 74-0, bipartisan vote!
